The paddle boarders had fallen off of their boards at the entrance to Pagham Harbour and were seen struggling to get back on to the boards.
The RNLI inshore Lifeboat (ILB) launched at 6.05 p.m. on Sunday 29th August and made best speed to the area. The weather on scene was wind northerly force 2, sea state smooth in broken sunshine. At 6.14 p.m. the ILB arrived on scene and spotted two paddle boarders in the water already being picked up by a sailing dinghy after the owner had seen the incident unfold and launched off the beach to give assistance. The ILB located the third paddle boarder on the beach.
All the casualties were OK and taken back to the beach they had left from and given safety advice by the ILB crew. The ILB returned to station arriving back at 6.47 p.m. and was recovered straight away, washed down, refuelled and made ready for the next call.
