The 'D' class Lifeboat was launched at 3.43 p.m. on Wednesday 18th August after a running call to the Lifeboat station from a member of the public.
The man in the water was 400 metres east of the station was seen falling off of his sit-on kayak several times before giving up and attempting to swim ashore. The inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene just as the man made the beach and the crew members quickly checked on his welfare before informing the UK Coastguard that he appeared fit and well and was walking back to the boathouse with the station LOM (Lifeboat Operations Manager) pulling his kayak which had fitted wheels.
The D class returned to station and was recovered straight away.
