The woman became stuck on the rocks at Aldwick near Bognor Regis at approximately 11.15 a.m. on Friday 23rd July and asked a friend close by to phone the Coastguards.
The Selsey 'D' class inshore Lifeboat (ILB) was requested by the UK Coastguards and the ILB launched at 11.30 a.m. and made best speed to Aldwick. The weather was wind north-northeast force 3-4, sea state moderate in sunshine. Selsey and Littlehampton Coastguard rescue teams were also tasked to the incident.
Whilst on route all units were stood down as the woman had managed to get off the rocks by herself. The ILB was near to the area so continued onwards to check the welfare of the woman who was none the worse for her ordeal and very apologetic. She was assured that the right thing was done by calling the Coastguard. The ILB departed Aldwick and returned to station at 12.20 p.m. and was recovered straight away.
CREW: Colin Pullenger (Helmsman), Max Wiseman and Neil Martin (Trainee).
