Selsey RNLI Called to Angler Cut Off by Tide

The Angler was on Pagham spit and made the emergency call himself on Wednesday 16th September when he realised that the sea was covering his feet.

UK Coastguards also received a call from a member of the public reporting the person stranded and immediately tasked the Selsey inshore Lifeboat (ILB) and Selsey Coastguard rescue team (CRT). The ILB launched at 8.35 a.m. and made best speed to Pagham Harbour. Arriving on scene at 8.45 a.m. the man was clearly visible with the water level just below his knees.

The man was well and, after taking him on board the ILB, he was transported to the beach close to Pagham Yacht Club. The Selsey CRT arrived shortly afterwards and the man was left with them. The weather on scene was light airs, calm seas in sunshine. The ILB left the scene and returned to station arriving back at 9.06 a.m.
