The volunteer crew at Selsey were requested to launch by UK Coastguard after they received an emergency call via mobile phone. The caller stated that he was on a 14-foot Orkney day boat that had broken down close to the Outer Mulberry off Pagham.
The inshore Lifeboat launched at 10.14 a.m. on Saturday 5th March and proceeded to a position approximately 3 miles north-east of the Lifeboat station. Once on scene the casualty was located attached to a marker buoy.
After checking the welfare of the sole occupant a tow was established and the vessel was towed back to the beach at Aldwick where the boat was kept. The inshore Lifeboat returned to Selsey arriving back at station at 11.15 a.m.
