The volunteer RNLI crew launched the 'D' class Inshore Lifeboat 'Betty and Thomas Moore' at 3.31 p.m. on Wednesday 30th July 2014. The emergency call gave the position of the dinghy as one mile south of Church Norton and that the girls were in the water.
Solent Coastguard had also tasked their Helicopter Rescue 104 which, when on scene, reported the girls had been picked up by Bognor Sailing Club safety boat. Rescue 104 conned the Inshore Lifeboat on to the position of the dinghy. When on scene at 3.37 p.m. the Inshore Lifeboat started to tow the dinghy to the shore and after a short time the sailing club safety boat returned and the tow was passed to them to continue.
Solent Coastguard released the Inshore Lifeboat from the incident and they made their way back to station arriving at 3.58 p.m. and rehousing immediately. The weather was wind south west force 4-5 with sea state moderate in bright sunshine.
