Selsey RNLI volunteer crew were paged at 6.07 p.m. on Saturday 21st June 2014 to go to the aid of the 26-foot yacht 'Panache' which had suffered engine failure 4 miles south of Bognor Regis. The weather was sunny with no wind so the yacht was unable to sail.
At the request of Solent Coastguard, the Tyne class Lifeboat 'Voluntary Worker' launched at 6.18 p.m. The 'Panache' was quickly reached and a tow was established between the Lifeboat and the yacht. A course was set for Littlehampton Harbour which was reached at 7.50 p.m. After safely berthing the 'Panache' alongside on the visitor's quay 'Voluntary Worker' left Littlehampton Harbour to return to Selsey.
The Lifeboat arrived back at Selsey at 8.50 p.m. and was rehoused and made ready for service at 9.40 p.m.
CREW: Willy Pledger (Coxswain), Geoff Mellett (Mechanic), Will Moir, Andy Lee, Dan Langford (Trainee), Max Wiseman (Trainee).
