Selsey Lifeboat Assists Angling Boat with Engine Failure and Anchor Line Caught Around Propeller

Selsey RNLI volunteer Lifeboat crew assisted the skipper of the 7-metre angling boat 'Christina B' free the anchor line from the propeller and then towed the Vessel to Chichester Harbour.
The crew were paged at 14:12 on Saturday 12th April and the Tyne class Lifeboat 'Voluntary Worker' launched at 14:20 and headed to the 'Christina B' position 2.5 miles south south east of Selsey Bill.
The Lifeboat arrived on scene within 15 minutes and transferred second coxswain Rob Archibald to the 'Christina B' to help the man and woman on board free the line from the propeller.
Rob Archibald said "The skipper of the 'Christina B' hadn't realised the anchor line was caught in the propeller until we told him." After freeing the line a towline was established between the Lifeboat and angling boat and the vessel was towed to Sparkes Marina inside Chichester Harbour.
The harbour was reached at 17:05 and the 'Christina B' was berthed alongside at Sparkes Marina.
'Voluntary Worker' departed at 17:55 for Selsey arriving at 18:45 and rehousing straight away. The Lifeboat was refuelled, washed down and made ready for service by 19:40.
