8th August 2012

Small Boat with Fouled Propellor

Selsey inshore lifeboat Betty and Thomas Moore launched at 17:25 to assist a small angling boat with 2 persons on board which had fouled its propeller on a lobster pot marker buoy approximately 1.2 miles south of the station, close to the Mixon Beacon.

The lifeboat arrived on scene at 17:30 and the crew cut the offending buoy free of the casualty’s propeller. The angling boat was then towed back to the beach at Selsey.

At 18:00 the ILB left the casualty to return to station, arriving back at 18:05, rehoused straight away and was ready for service at 18:25.
