25-Foot Yacht ‘Prego’ Broken Down

Selsey all weather lifeboat Voluntary Worker launched at 18:24 to assist the 25-foot yacht 'Prego' broken down and unable to sail as its mast was lowered and stowed on the deck for passage from Littlehampton to Chichester Harbour.

The lifeboat and crew were quickly on scene approximately one mile east-northeast of the station at 18:31, a tow was established and at 18:37 a course was set for Chichester Harbour.

At 20:07, on reaching the Bar Beacon in Chichester Harbour entrance, the tow was handed over to Hayling lifeboat which was out on exercise. Hayling lifeboat continued towing the casualty into Sparkes Marina whilst Voluntary Worker returned to station arriving back at 20:33, rehousing straight away and was ready for service once more at 21:00.
