Selsey Inshore Lifeboat ‘Betty and Thomas Moore’ was launched at 8:53am after members of the public had reported a dinghy drifting out to sea apparently with nobody in it.
The volunteer lifeboat crew found the drifting dinghy at 8.58am approximately one and a half miles southwest of Selsey Bill Point. The dinghy named ‘Muff’ was identified as having been lost from one of the local fishing boat moorings just west of Selsey Lifeboat Station. The dinghy was taken in tow and at 9:08am placed on the Lifeboat Station’s moorings, to be collected by its owner later in the day.
The Inshore Lifeboat then returned to Station arriving back at 9:10am, recovered straight away and made ready for service once more by 9:45am.
