Broken Down Dive RIB 'John W'

John W

Selsey all weather lifeboat Voluntary Worker launched at 1333 to assist the broken down dive rib “John W” which still had 6 of its divers in the water.

Littlehampton’s two inshore Lifeboats were on exercise and were tasked to assist as well along with the Coastguard helicopter “Rescue 104”. These units were first on scene and waited for the divers to surface. At 1350 Selsey lifeboat arrived at a position approximately one mile down tide of the casualty and patrolled the area in case any divers drifted that far.

At 1355 Littlehampton lifeboat reported all divers recovered safe and well and that they were going to tow the broken down rib back to Littlehampton. At this time all units were released.

Voluntary Worker returned to station arriving back at 1415 rehoused straight away and was made ready for service at 1500.
