Kite Surfer in Difficulties

Selsey inshore lifeboat “Betty and Thomas Moore” launched at 1635 to assist a kite surfer who had been reported by members of the public to be in difficulty and waving frantically approximately 400 yards offshore just to the east of the lifeboat station.

The lifeboat was quickly on scene at 1636 and recovered the young man onboard. He was assessed not to have any medical problems other than being tired and slightly cold. His board and kite were also recovered and all were transported back to the lifeboat station where the local coastguard team met him and took him and his equipment by road back to the end of Grafton Road where he had set off from originally and where his friends were waiting for him.

The ILB having checked that his friends were not in the same trouble returned to station at 1650 arrived back at 1653 rehoused immediately and was made ready for service by 1720.
