Capsized Dinghy, Persons in the Water

Selsey Inshore lifeboat “Betty and Thomas Moore” launched at 19.04 to assist two men after they had fallen into the water following the capsize of their 6’ dinghy amongst the moorings close inshore off East beach.

The lifeboat was launched within 3 minutes of the Crew being alerted.

The ILB arrived on the scene to find that one man had swum ashore and the other who could not swim had been picked up by a fisherman and taken ashore to meet the local Coastguards.

Once it had been established that all the people were accounted for, the ILB Crew righted the drifting dinghy, took it in tow and landed it at the lifeboat station at 19.15.
