Prior to launching for a weekly ILB exercise, the Helmsman was contacting Solent Coastguard and during the conversation the ILB “Betty and Thomas Moore” was tasked to a suspected missing surfer off of West Wittering beach.
The ILB was at the water's edge already so an immediate launch was authorised at 1826.As the ILB approached Bill Point the missing person was located safe and well ashore and therefore the ILB was released from the incident at 1828 and resumed normal training.
