Selsey Inshore lifeboat D-691 “Betty and Thomas Moore” launched at 18.45 to assist the yacht “Rhymhor” with 2 persons aboard, aground on the Mixon rocks. After arriving on scene at 19.00 and establishing the yacht was hard aground, it was decided to allow the casualty to re-float on the incoming tide. The yacht's anchor was deployed by the crew of the ilb to prevent her from being pushed further inshore as she began to re-float. At 19.11 the ILB requested the assistance of the All-Weather lifeboat “Voluntary Worker”. One person from the “Rhymhor” was taken ashore due to having an existing injury and met by the coastguards. The other was taken aboard the ALB. The yacht re-floated at 22.20 on the incoming tide and a tow was attached by the ILB. Once into deeper water the tow was passed onto the ALB to continue to Selsey. At 2302 the yacht was placed on the mooring. At 2304 the ALB re-housed and was ready for service again at 2330. The ILB returned the “Rhymhor” crew to the vessel at 2330, re-housed at 2345 and was ready for service again at 0005.
