Selsey inshore lifeboat “Betty and Thomas Moore” launched at 1506 to assist a broken down speedboat with two males on board trapped by the strong tide against the offshore lifeboat station.

The ILB was on scene within a minute and quickly took the two male occupants aboard, as the speedboat was in imminent danger of flipping over. The two men were transported ashore. The lifeboat crew then returned to the speedboat, attached a towline and towed the boat clear of the lifeboat station then safely moored it on a local fisherman’s mooring.

The lifeboat returned to station at 1530 rehoused straight away and was ready for service once more at 1550.
