At 1702, on the request of Solent Coastguard, the Inshore Lifeboat 'Betty and Thomas Moore was launched to assist the yacht 'Va moose' who had run aground 1 mile south of the lifeboat station.
The Lifeboat arrived on scene 1705 and put one crewmember aboard. There was one male crew onboard. The yacht's anchor was deployed to hold her in position until the tide rose sufficiently to refloat the vessel. At 1745 the anchor was retrieved and a tow attached. The yacht was held in position by the ILB until she was fully refloated. At 1832 the ILB towed the 'Va moose' into deeper water. The crew member was retrieved from the casualty and the ILB returned to the station at 1909.
