Man and Dog in Difficulties

At 1725 Selsey inshore lifeboat “Betty and Thomas Moore” was tasked by Solent Coastguard to assist a man and a dog being swept out to sea just offshore from the end of Shore Road Wittering.

At 1729 before the lifeboat had entered the water it was stood down. The man had made it safely ashore but the dog was still missing. Hayling lifeboat had also been tasked at the same time and continued to the scene, where the dog was recovered and returned to its owner having been picked up by a passing leisure craft.
