Report of Red Flares South of Bognor - Part 2

At 0730 Selsey inshore lifeboat “Peter Cornish” launched to join Selsey all weather lifeboat in an ongoing search after reports of red flares had been sighted by a local fishing boat.

An area out to approximately 2.5 miles offshore between Felpham and Pagham Harbour was the designated search area. At approximately 0800 Littlehampton inshore lifeboat joined them whilst ashore launch sites were being checked by Coastguard teams from Selsey and Littlehampton.

At 0930 both inshore lifeboats and the shore teams were released to return to station with Solent Coastguard confident the area had been thoroughly searched. Selsey ALB continued searching until 1121.

The “Peter Cornish” arrived back at station at 0950, recovered by 1000 and was ready for service once more at 1030.
