Selsey Lifeboat Station - Launches

17th September 2007

Reports of a Person Entering the Water

Selsey inshore lifeboat “Peter Cornish” launched at 2023 to investigate reports of a suspicious green light just offshore at Bognor, this was coupled with reports of a person seen entering the water earlier. The lifeboat arrived on scene at 2040 and was conned on to the green light in amongst Bognor Rocks by the Littlehampton Coastguard unit from the shore. The light was attached to a surface marker buoy used by scuba divers.

It transpired that a Polish scuba diver was spear fishing amongst Bognor Rocks and was not in need of any assistance. At 2048 the lifeboat was released to return to station, arriving back at 2106, recovering straight away and was ready for service once more at 2130.
