At 1320 Solent Coastguard paged the crew in response to a 999 call from a member of the public who had seen a man and 10-year-old boy in difficulties off of the Bill Point.
The two persons had launched an inflatable dinghy and as soon as they got into the tide chop on the point the young boy was thrown out of the dinghy. Luckily both casualties made it ashore before the inshore lifeboat had launched. The crew were stood down at 1323.
