Selsey all weather lifeboat “Voluntary Worker” launched at 1512 to assist the yacht “Burlesque” with two persons on board in a position approximately half a mile southeast of the station. The lifeboat arrived on scene at 1515 to discover that the casualty had fouled its propeller on fishing gear. As a towline was being prepared the “Burlesque” crew managed to free their vessel with no damage incurred. After escorting the casualty for approximately five minutes to ensure everything was all right the yacht continued on her passage to Brighton.
“Voluntary Worker” was released to return to station at 1530 arriving back at 1535, rehoused straight away and was ready for service once more at 1600.
