ILB D533 ‘PETER CORNISH’ launched at 1703 hrs to assist two boys and one adult in two inflatable dinghies, which had been swept out to sea from the east beach.
The ILB was on scene within a few minutes of launching and found two boys in inflatable dinghies with the adult clinging to one of them. The man was one of the boy’s father and had swum out to assist them having seen them being taken out to sea. The ILB transported all three of them back to the shore where they were met by the local coastguards who explained the dangers of inflatable toys on the sea.
The ILB returned to station, recovered at 1740 hrs and was ready for service at 1800 hrs.
