24-Foot Angling Boat ‘Sans Pareil’

AWL 47-031 'Voluntary Worker' launched at 1438 hrs to go to the assistance of a 24-foot angling boat ‘Sans Pareil’ which was disabled with a fishing net around its propeller and with 2 male persons on board.

The ‘Voluntary Worker' arrived on scene approximately 2 miles northeast of the Nab Tower at 1506 hrs. Two crewmembers, Dave Lamdin and Peter Delahunty, were put aboard the casualty and with a long handled knife they soon cut the offending net clear but discovered that the drive to the propeller was broken. A towline was attached and a course set for Chichester Harbour. At 1630 hrs, once inside the harbour, the tow was passed over to the motor boat ‘Carla’ which was owned by a friend of the skipper of ‘Sans Pareil’ who then took the casualty back to its mooring at Emsworth.

‘Voluntary Worker' was released to return to station arriving back at 1714 hrs, rehousing immediately and being made ready for service by 1745 hrs.
