ILB D533 ‘PETER CORNISH’ launched at 1246 hrs to go to the aid of two children being blown offshore from the West Sands beach.
The ILB arrived on scene at 1250 hrs and found the children approximately 150 yards offshore from the Embassy club. The two children and their inflatable were brought aboard the ILB and taken safely back to the shore, where the dangers of inflatable dinghies were explained to them by the waiting coastguards.
The ILB was released to return to station at 1305 hrs, arriving back at 1310 hrs, and was ready for service at 1330 hrs.
