26-Foot Fishing Vessel 'Emma Jayne' Run Aground

Selsey ILB D533 ‘PETER CORNISH’ launched at 0407 hrs to go to the assistance of the local 26-foot fishing vessel ‘Emma Jayne’ with one male person on board which had run aground approximately 50 metres offshore on the west side of Pagham Harbour entrance.

The ILB arrived on scene at 0417 hrs and quickly attached a towline as high water had just passed and time was crucial on a falling tide. The ILB managed to pull the vessel off of the shingle bank and at 0420 hrs, when the casualty was in safe water, the tow was released and the ILB was free to return to station, arriving back at 0432 hrs, rehousing straight away and was made ready for service by 0500 hrs.
